Blue Check Apology

a type of apology used by Blue Checkmarks that has 3 important characteristics:

1. The word “Sorry”/another phrase similar is said to the affected party.

2. Blame for the situation is shifted onto another person or group besides their own. (Can be the person/people they are apologizing to)

3. Accompanied by a vague and misleading summary of why an apology is needed; often littered with lies and falsehoods.

Ex. “I’d like to apologize to everyone I offended with my tweet earlier. It’s so hard to live in a country where everyone is bigoted enough to not accept the fact that I have an OF, so sometimes I get frustrated.”
