Supporters who haven’t actually read these themselves play a huge role when using this phrase, as their blind eye to the situation helps downplay the content of the emails and make them appear trivial.
At the root of the phrase, you have individuals who STILL live in disbelief about 2016’s results. Despite Biden’s 2020 campaign and subsequent victory proving the opposite, the email story continues to serve as a convenient excuse for what was really an unlikeable candidate.
